Most regulators, should have an intermediate pressure of about 9-10 bar (please refer to your regulator literature). When diagnosing regulator problems, it's often very helpful to know if the Intermediate Pressure is out-of-range. Slightly out-of-range values typically indicate the need for just a simple 1st Stage adjustment to compensate for wear.

Significantly out-of-range values, particularly with movement ("creep"), often indicate a more serious impending high-pressure seat failure. Slow recovery time can indicate a clogged inlet filter.

 

An Iintermediate-pressure gauge is useful for monitoring the health of your regulator.

If you are one of those people who doesn't dive in the UK in these winter conditions then don't forget abot diving all together.

In these "credit crunch" times, maybe you are not planning on a trip to warmer climes but there are several things you can do to help get the most enjoyment from your sport.  If you are not using your equipment then now is the time to get it checked over and if necessary get it serviced. Go through your log book and bring back memories from your dives last year. Any lessons to be learned? Also remember that after some time not diving you may need to review your own diving knowledge.  An excellent aid to do this is the PADI scuba Tune-up guide book. Get one and go through it to freshen up what you learned in your training and be confident for your next dive. How about getting together with your dive buddies and working through some of it together.
